Why Stripe? For Schools.

Schools need Striping! There are several traffic paths that all schools have: dropping and picking-up students, logistics to support the cafeteria and any other materials, employee parking, etc. Some are high rates of traffic in condensed periods of time, i.e. when school starts or ends, but others can be slower flows throughout the days.

School starting and ending. This half or so period time at the beginning of the school day and at the end is peak traffic and the greatest resultant chaos. To ensure that students can be picked up and dropped off safely, it is imperative to have well-marked lines that showcase where cars can pick up and drop off, as well as clearly defined pedestrian walkways. As a thought experiment, if a Middle School has 3 grades and on average 200 students per class, assuming 2/3rds take the bus to and from school and the rest are individually picked up by parents or caregivers, that’s about 10 buses and another 200 cars. Buses need their own lanes marked out, clearly, since that is where most foot traffic will occur around, while for the other 200 cars, long-lead assembly lanes will need to be marked out to ensure that traffic does not back up into the public roads. This phenomenon plays out on a regular basis for schools located close to roads. Especially for those buildings, it is of the utmost importance to control the flow of traffic at all stages of pick up and drop off.

As for logistics, a school functions the same way as any other business or building requiring external supply, such as food, office or cleaning supplies. A receiving dock and the path to it should be clearly marked out for those logistic professionals. Not only does this make it quicker for external parties to find, it prevents them from intruding upon the already condensed pick up and drop off lanes that students need at peak hours. Additionally, when it comes to receiving docks and other receiving areas, having lanes marked out for food, office, construction materials, etc. will also help control that flow of traffic, ensuring that no unnecessary labor moving around shipments occurs. This will also help prevent unnecessary confusion in ensuring that all packages to get to the right place the first time.

Finally, for Staff and Faculty, a well-striped Parking Lot has all the same benefits as ascertained in other articles. Especially in the Cleveland, Ohio metropolitan area, there is a variety of weather conditions that can cause erosion of line legibility. Having freshly painted lines ensures that all parking is easy to find and organize for the faculty and staff, ensuring that they can make it to class on time!

To wrap things up, there are numerous benefits to maintaining freshly painted lines at a school. The main point is that during the rush hour of pick up and drop off, well defined boundaries and zones can ensure the ease of student transition from the classroom to their homes.
